Trial Name
Renal Denervation in Patients With Refractory Hypertension.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical utility of renal denervation (ablation or disruption of the nerves that surround the kidney artery) for the treatment of refractory hypertension (high blood pressure that is not controlled on 3 or more blood pressure medications).

Ages Eligible for Study
18 years or older

Genders Eligible for Study
Both

Inclusion Criteria

  • Subjects with blood pressures that run greater than 160 systolically (top number)
  • Subjects that are currently on 3 or more antihypertensive (high blood pressure) medications
  • Subjects with poor kidney function as determined by a blood test and by their physician.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Subjects with narrowings or blockages in their renal (kidney) arteries.
  • Subjects with high blood pressure that is caused by other problems as determined by their physician.
  • Subjects with recent heart attack (MI), chest pain (angina), or stroke (CVA) within last 6 months
  • Insulin dependent diabetes (Type 1 diabetes)
